Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic disorder that affects a large part of the population. This disorder is the most commondiagnosis made by gastroenterologists around the globe (El-Salhy,[1]). IBS is known to be more frequent in younger people and women (NICE, [2]). The causes of IBS are unknown, although some risk factors might contribute to its development. (El-Salhy, [1]). IBS is characterised by occurrent abdominal pain or discomfort, associated with a change in bowel movement (Longstreth et al.,).There is no specific cure for IBS. However, symptoms could be managed by making some changes in diet and lifestyle......

About 12% of world population is affected by kidney stone during their lifetime and the chance of its recurrence is very high Alelign et al. [2]. In India, approximately 5-7 million patients suffer from stone disease and at least 1/1000 of Indian population needs hospitalization. Kidney stone is associated with chronic kidney disease, bone loss and fractures, increased risk of coronary artery disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and the metabolic syndrome. Hyperoxaluria increases the risk of calcium -oxalate stone formation and about 80% of kidney stone cases are due to calcium oxalate stone deposition on kidney. Majority of oxalate found in animals originates from ingested oxalate-containing plant material and small portion formed endogenously in the liver via the metabolism of glycine, glyoxylate and ascorbic acid. Human nei.....

Dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease have been identified by the World Health Organisation as the number one cause of death globally, and high levels of LDL cholesterol [1] are a major risk factor contributing to this. Numerous studies have identified cardiovascular medications as the best way to achieve this goal. A meta-analysis by Baigent etal in 2010 reviewed 26 cholesterol clinical trials which included 170,000 participants1. Their results showed a relative risk reduction in total mortality of 10% per 1 mmol/L reduction in LDL-C with a P value< 0.0011. In their review a significant reduction in deaths from coronary disease and a further reduction in major vascular events which equated to a 22% reduction per 1 mmol/L of circulating LDL-C. Current clinical data supports [2] the belief that LDL-C is the real target for reducing CVD r.....

Hypertension have been reported to be associated with coronary vascular disease and cerebrovascular diseases [1,2]. The prevalence of hypertension is estimated to impact 29% of the population by 2025 [1]. The pre-hypertension definition (120-139 mmHg and/or 80-89 mmHg) relatively recently established is to alert adults with pre-hypertension of the high risk of hypertension and the resulting cardiovascular diseases [3]. Hypertension is defined when systolic blood pressure (SBP) is ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) is ≥90 mmHg [4]. Uncontrolled elevated BP contributes to kidney failure and blindness. It significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke in hypertensive or prehypertensive patients [5]. However, most individuals with prehypertension or hypertension are not aware of th.....

Since the beginning of human birth, man has familiarized with plants and used them as medicines, food stuffs, clothing, shelters, fertilizers, fragrances and modes of transportation throughout the ages. While searching for food and facing the human sufferings, ancient man has begun to distinguish those plants having medicinal value from others with specific pharmacological action. This interaction between plants and man has developed and many plants are being utilized for medicinal purpose Kumar et al. [1]. The starting of the development of herbal drugs is based upon the advancement of chemistry as isolation, purification and determination of plant compounds Shakya et al. [2]. Recently, in industrialized and developing countries, the assessment of safety, quality and efficiency of medicinal plants and herbal drugs has become a key concer.....

Artificial Intelligence refers to machine learning, i.e. intelligence and machinery are computed. Basically, machines [4] showing human intelligence depicts artificial intelligence but in addition to it the machine should behave humanly in every possible way i.e action, reaction, and thinking. AI research objectives includes reasoning, representation, planning, realization and manipulation of objects. Artificial intelligence term is used to describe the use of technology with intimation of machines and human intellect which are programmed in such a way that they imitate and stimulate human [5] actions. AI is a technology based on hightech robotics, science fiction and can seem intimidating to some. Over past 50 years, this field has grown appreciably but the major force which tends to pull it towards a brighter spot is the fourth industri.....

TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment; Research approaches; Methods; Chronic liver diseases Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome (a.k.a., ZHENG or Zheng-Hou), “in essence, is a characteristic profile of all clinical manifestations that can be identified by a TCM practitioner.” TCM syndrome is the differentiation of the symptoms and signs of patients, reflecting the overall pathological state including the etiology, disease location and pathogenesis of a certain stage of the body during the disease process [1]. As TCM syndrome is the external manifestation of the internal changes associated with the disease, it reflects the overall state of the body and has its own integrity, while the external symptoms and signs are constantly changing with the disease’s occurrence and development, reflecting the complex characteristics .....

Shanghai, a pioneer municipal city in implementing hospice and palliative care (HPC) services in China, has realized its initial goal of universal coverage of either inpatient or home-based HPC services in all community health centers (CHCs) by 2020. However, there are still some bottlenecks during the progress, including low equalization and homogenization of services among different CHCs, and lack of charging items for comprehensive evaluation, alternative therapy, appropriate traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technology and humanistic care which are labor-intensive. There is an urgent need to construct and standardize contents and items of HPC services and introduce payment method by service unit to encourage medical staffs to provide HPC services at all levels of care. Hospice and palliative care (HPC) are a crucial part of integrate.....

Around 80% of patients with psoriasis have mild to moderate (localized) disease [1]. For those patients, topical agents are usually the first-line treatment, with corticosteroids most used. Despite their effectiveness, quick relapse and/or rebound are common following discontinuation of those conventional topical treatments [2,3]. Thus, continuous therapy is often needed, however, not feasible due to lack of compliance and/or the possibility of the side effects, especially concerning corticosteroids [4]. Hence, the use of complementary medicine in general and plant-origin topical treatment in particular in up to 69% of the patients [5] is a common practice, and mostly on the their own initiative. However, so far most of the issue related studies have shown a limited efficacy, inconvenience of use, significant adverse events [5-7] and/or a.....

Chronic endothelial damage may be the leading cause of aging and death. Probably whole afferent vasculature including capillaries are mainly involved in the process since much higher blood pressure (BP) of the afferent vessels may be the major underlying cause by inducing recurrent endothelial injuries. Thus, the term of venosclerosis is not as famous as atherosclerosis in the literature. Secondary to the chronic endothelial damage, inflammation, edema, and fibrosis, arterial walls become thickened, their lumens are narrowed, and they lose their elastic natures, those reduce blood flow and increase systolic BP further. Some of the well-known accelerators of the atherosclerotic process are male gender, physical inactivity, excess weight, smoking, alcohol, and chronic inflammatory or infectious processes including sickle cell diseases (SCD).....

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD), a severe and pervasive heterogeneous neurodevelopment disorder, is characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, repetitive behavioral patterns, and restricted interests. Many aspects of ASD are still debatable, with elusive and complex etiologies, and no effective therapy exists. At present, many studies have verified the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of autism. However, the results should be explained cautiously due to methodological weakness. In order to obtain powerful evidence of the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of ASD, it is worth designing a study with higher methodological quality. We summarize the potential mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of ASD. We found the mechanism of acupuncture treatment of ASD is still unclea.....

In the post epidemic era, the world is facing more complex economic and ecological crises, human health problems, international conflicts and world security, which force us to reflect on the misunderstanding of human mind: globalization intensifies the gap between the rich and the poor and regional disputes between countries, and developed high technology puts mankind in a more unsafe military threat. Many disasters let us see the weakness of human nature: modern mankind has not established a “spiritual home” matching the “ideal country” of material civilization. While challenging nature, mankind is also destroying the relationship between man and nature, which affects individual health, social order and human destiny. Highly developed modern science and technology and diversified political theories do not give human beings enough.....

Anxiety disorder, i.e., anxiety neurosis, includes generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), and various phobia-related disorders. One can have more than one anxiety disorder. Sometimes anxiety results from a medical condition that needs treatment. Anxiety disorders are generally treated with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), antianxiety medication as well as stress management techniques, including meditation and biofeedback. Several Chinese medical practices of acupuncture, Qigong, Taiqi and calligraphy training have shown positive effects on anxiety and depression Xu, et.al. [1]. Chinese calligraphy handwriting (CCH) enhances one’s cognitive, emotional, and physiological functions Kao, [2,3]. Its applications in behavioral, psychosomatic, and cognitive disorders have shown positive improvem.....
