Siva K Balasundram currently works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Agriculture Technology in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He earned his BS (Agronomy) and MS (Soil Chemistry) degrees from UPM in 1994 and 1997, respectively. In 1999, he was awarded a UPM scholarship to pursue a doctorate in Precision Agriculture at the University of Minnesota under the guidance of Prof Dr Pierre C Robert, who pioneered the development of Precision Agriculture in the USA and many other parts of the world. In September of 2003, he earned his PhD and began working as a Lecturer at the Department of Agriculture Technology, UPM. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2007 and to Associate Professor in 2012. He a passionate teacher and researcher. His work quality is reflected in his teaching and research engagements and outputs. He has received encouraging scores in teaching evaluation by students (3-year average of 4.63 out of 5.00). He has brought in research grants in the amount of RM814,000 from eight (8) different projects over the past 12 years. He has authored/co-authored a total of fifty six (56) journal articles, forty (40) proceeding papers, two (2) book chapters and five (5) articles in professional magazines. He currently registers an h-index of 13. Additionally, he has two (2) copyrights and one (1) patent (pending) to his credit. Before joining NARO, He worked as an Entomologist in Masindi and Kibaale District Local Governments and later as Senior Entomologist. He is a results driven, self-motivated and resourceful scientist with proven ability to develop and strengthen teams in order to maximize research outputs and creates clear strategies for their accomplishment. He is a highly innovative leader with extensive scientific background. He has proven ability to generate innovative agricultural technologies and offers technical expertise with excellent communication skills and is able to establish sustainable relationships with stakeholders across the world. He is able to manage conflicts, challenges, or interruptions in work environment and make hard but necessary decisions that promote the interest of an organization. He is a PI and Co-PI of a number of development projects. He chairs NaLIRRI science committee and is also a member of NaLIRRI disciplinary and mentoring committee which has built his capacity in handling research and administrative affairs. He has acted as director at NaLIRRI several times and has learnt a lot of lessons in management including supervision, monitoring and accountability. Republic titled "Space of Azerbaijan national economy", which was one of the leading specialists in the direction of subjects. Occupying positions of responsibility in ANASA system, he was the supervisor of a number of these projects (R & D) and many others participated directly in the face of the leading in the direction of, the results of which have been successfully implemented in all areas of agricultural production, not only in Azerbaijan, but also in other states CIS, Turkey, Iran. In 1994 he was invited to work in the Baku office VNPO "Rainbow" (now renamed the Institute of Erosion and Irrigation of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences of the Republic), worked here on the following positions: Head Design department, Director SKTB, Head complex development department, Creation and implementation of low-intensity irrigation systems, and now, and the Deputy Director of the Institute of Erosion and Irrigation of the Republic of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences on scientific work, which is now. In 1997 he was elected a member of correspondent, and in 1998 a full member (academician) of the International Academy of Ecology and Natural Resources.
