Research ArticleView abstract PDF Full textObjective: a) To analyze the correlation between serum Hypoxia-inducible Factor (HIF)-1α, Hypersensitive C-reactive Protein (Hs-CRP), and lung function in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). b) To investigate the clinical significance of HIF-1α and Hs-CRP on COPD disease progression. Methods One hundred and sixty COPD patients attending the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of the First People’s Hospital of Yinchuan from 2016 to 2020 were selected and divided into four groups of mild, moderate, severe, and very severe based on pulmonary function tests, with 40 cases in each group. The HIF-1α and Hs-CRP concentrations and pulmonary function of all enrolled patients were measured. c) The differences in HIF-1α and Hs-CRP and the correlation between HIF-1α, Hs-CRP, and FEV1% among the ..... Research ArticleView abstract PDF Full textIntroduction: Despite the availability of research in attachment and psychodermatology, topics regarding the effects of attachment style and its relation to patient diagnosis remain unexplored. Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to investigate the possible relationships between patient attachment styles and diagnosis. Methods: Patient diagnosis and demographic information were collected from a clinician-maintained database at a psychodermatology clinic. Participants were randomly selected and placed into one of three diagnostic groups based on their diagnosis. Participants were contacted by telephone and asked to complete the Revised Adult Attachment Scale. Control group responses were obtained by administering an online survey via the social media platforms Facebook and Twitter. Results: A total of 120 participants to..... ReadMore

EditorialView abstract PDF Full textAbstract Objective: To investigate the differences and correlation between the concentrations of electrolytes (K+, Na+, Ca2+, Cl-) and glucose (Glu) in venous blood of different age groups. Methods: A total of 106 patients were selected and divided into four groups according to age: <60 years group (n = 22), 60-69 years group (n = 35), 70-79 years group (n = 31), ≥80 years group (n = 18).The concentrations of K+, Na+, Ca2+, Cl-and Glu in the arterial and venous blood of all patients were detected, and the differences and correlations were analyzed. Results: The detection values of K+, Na+, Ca2+, Cl-and Glu ions in arterial blood were (3.62±0.40)mmol/L, (137.20±3.69) mmol/L,(1.13±0.04)mmol/L,(101.56± 3.63) mmol/L, (7.73 ± 3.11)mmol/L, respectively. The detection values of K+, Na+, Ca2+, Cl-and Glu ions in venous blood were(3..... ReadMore

Case ReportView abstract PDF Full textTrichofolliculoma is a rare adnexal tumor of unknown etiology, occurring mainly in adults. It presents clinically as a solitary flesh-coloured papule or nodule, sitting on the face and scalp area, with rarely extra cephalic localizations. Histologically, the characteristic finding of trichofolliculoma include a squamous epithelium lined keratin containing dermal cyst with radiating hair follicles from the cyst wall. We present a case of an adult male with trichofolliculoma located on the eyebrow, that has been surgically removed without reccurence...... ReadMore

Research ArticleView abstract PDF Full textHere we report the current COVID-19 epidemic in terms of mortality and recovery compared to the confirmed patient population of provinces in China as well as countries outside of China. Data was obtained from the Center for System Science and Engineering (CSSE) by Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and was plotted in log-log charts. For China, mortality dropped as low as 0.08% but then converged to a band of 1%-5%, with the median value of 1.1% as of March 9th, 2020. For countries outside of China, mortality dropped to a low of 0.2% with a median value of 2.4% as of March 9th, 2020. This difference was statistically significant with p=0.0057...... ReadMore
