Guoqian Chen is a professor of systems ecology and sustainability science at Peking University, China. He has a wide spectrum of research interests including climate thermodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, energy policy, systems ecological modelling, ecological economics, global and regional sustainability studies, systems input-output technique. With distinguished contributions as marked by around 300 publications in prestigious journals, Prof. Chen has won a series of awards and honors, including Elsevier Atlas Award, Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers Award, Thomson Reuters China Citation Laureate. He served as editor, associate editor or advisory member for 50 international journals.

Dr. Shuguang Deng joined Arizona State University (Tempe, AZ) in August 2015 as a Professor of Chemical Engineering in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy. Prof. Deng had been the Bob Davis Professor in the Chemical & Materials Engineering Department at New Mexico State University for 12 years. Dr. Deng received B.S. (1984) and M.S. (1987) from Zhejiang University in China, and Ph.D. (1996) from University of Cincinnati, all in chemical engineering. Dr. Deng has 12-year industrial R&D experience with Sinopec (R&D manager, 1987-1992) and BOC (lead research engineer, 1996-2003). Dr. Deng’s group is currently working in three areas that are relevant to sustainable developments: 1). Synthesis, characterization and application of porous materials as adsorbents, catalysts and membranes for sustainable energy and clean water; 2). Development of efficient processes for converting biomass to bioenergy and bio-products; 3). Applications of adsorption technology in environmental protection: water treatment, carbon dioxide capture and utilization. Dr. Deng has received several awards in his career, including Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Energy Conservation (Moscow, Russia, 2013); Westhafer Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (2012), University Research Distinguished Career Award (2011), Millionaire Researcher (2010), College of Engineering Distinguished Bromilow Excellence in Research Award (2009); Bob Davis Endowed Professorship (2005), Innovation Excellence Award (BOC, 2001), and Innovation Achievement Award (BOC, 1999). As of September 2019, Dr. Deng has published over 220 referred journal papers, holds 22 patents. His publications have received 7700+ SCI citations (h-index of 45), 11,000+ Google Scholar Citations (h-index of 54).

Junhui Hu received his Ph.D. Degree from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 1997, and B. E. and M. E. degrees in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 1986 and 1989, respectively. Currently he is a Chang-Jiang Distinguished Professor, China, and the deputy director of State Key Laboratory of Mechanics and Control of Mechanical Structures (NUAA), China. Dr. Hu was an assistant and associate professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, from 2001 to 2010. His research interest is in piezoelectric/ultrasonic devices. He is the author and co-author of more than 300 papers and disclosed patents, including more than 90 full research papers published in SCI journals and 1 editorial review in an international journal. He is also the sole author of monograph book “Ultrasonic Micro/Nano Manipulations: Principles and Examples” (2014, World Scientific, Singapore). Dr. Hu won the Paper Prize from the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (Japan) as the first author in 1998, and his research work has been highlighted by 7 international scientific media with a citation time > 1400.
