Abstract
Smart materials are a group of materials that alter its properties based on changes in their environment, thus making them
stimuli-responsive materials. This study provides an overview of the six main categories of the recently used smart materials,
namely, piezoelectric materials, photovoltaic materials, shape-memory materials, magneto strictive materials, thermoelectric
materials, and chromogenic materials.
Keywords: Piezoelectric; Photovoltaic; Shape-Memory; Magneto strictive; Chromogenic
