In recent years, the attention to the COVID-19 pandemic has been highly paid, while the attention to other diseases has been relatively reduced. Cancer as a most important disease category always have been an unavoidable topic. Therefore, herein the options of cancer treatment in China will be discussed to become a reference and to promote the determination of cancer treatment programs. With the continuous progress of science and technology, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other therapeutic methods, the survival rate of cancer patients is also getting higher and higher. But cancer whenever, is not a minor illness, even psychological acceptance process needs a long time. Suffering from cancer, a series of process including examination, surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy belong to western medicine or modern medicine. Besides, there are also extensive and profound Traditional Chinese Medicine that can deal with cancer treatment in China. Due to the particularity of traditional Chinese Medicine, most fundamental theories are based on regulating the human body environment and improving immunity and the overall clear treatment system still is in a road to be improved continuously and is forming coupled systems with other therapies.
In the choice of treatment means, many patients hesitate whether they should choose western medicine or traditional Chinese medicine to deal with their own cancer. The issue has also long been highly controversial. Some patients choose western medicine, the toxic and side effects from radiotherapy and chemotherapy after surgery, are painful, and there exist some risks of recurrence and metastasis. Some other patients also refuse routine treatment and choose traditional Chinese Medicine. Determination of cancer treatment of traditional Chinese Medicine or Western Medicine should not be generalized, and specific solutions should be adopted for different problems:
a) For cancer patients who is found in the early-stage, resection treatment generally should be implemented. Of course. surgery treatment in Western Medicine should be optimal scheme because it can remove illness effectively and in time. After the surgery employing chemo-radiotherapy or targeted medication the patients can receive good results and even can achieve clinical cure. Under these circumstances Western Medicine is the best choice.
b) For cancer patients who completes surgery, integrated Chinese and Western Medicine will have good results. For example, after the surgery radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be combined with traditional Chinese medicine. Herein Traditional Chinese Medicine can not only slow down the side effects caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but also play a therapeutic effect on the disease itself.
c) For cancer patients who cannot tolerate surgery or are in the advanced stage of cancer, Traditional Chinese Medicine is selected with good treatment effect. Because Traditional Chinese Medicine can reduce toxicity from Western Medicine and increase treatment effects, and in the cancer treatment the patients can also enhance their own immunity, effectively relieve their pains, improve the quality of life, and prolong their lives.
Clinical and community medical practices show that the effects of Western Medicine, of Traditional Chinese Medicine or of coupled regimen are significant in cancer treatment. However, it should be noted that Traditional Chinese Medicine can play an active role continuously throughout the whole process of cancer treatment, and that the specific method employed must be under the guidance of professional doctors. Options of cancer medical program and outcomes of clinical and community medical practice can be used
as recommendations and samples of cancer treatment for clinical
or community health services in the United States of America or in
other countries.
