Abstract
This study contributed a reliability of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) techniques to investigate tectonic geomorphology
analysis of river mobility with high resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). This study interpreted the impact of tectonic
geomorphology on landslides occurrence in a rugged topography. In this study, river responses were investigated by using an
integration of LiDAR, geomorphology, and a field survey to determine the tectonic geomorphology signatures. The study reveals
that the Zagros Folded Belt (ZFB) of Iran with the rugged topography and vegetated area is susceptible to landslides associated with
the Dez River in north of Khuzestan Province wherein the Khuzestan Plains the river systems were found to be mobile and able to
respond, both laterally and vertically, to the active tectonics.
